Hail damages – these 5 points protect you from bad surprises

It usually comes out of nowhere and often leads to damages worth millions of francs: hail. If you insure your car well, you don't have to worry about dents in the bodywork later on. As the next storm will surely come (hopefully without financial consequences), we have summarized the most important points:

Hail is one of the natural hazards not covered by the car liability insurance. The only way to be covered is to take out a partial or a full casco insurance.

The advantage for car owners: not only are the repair costs reimbursed, you can also avoid a loss of vehicle’s value.

Partial casco is advisable for vehicles under 7 years of age, as a damage caused by hail can quickly result in costs of several thousand francs. The coverage for hail damage can also be useful with older cars. Usually the damage can be paid even if you decide not to have the damage repaired.
If there was hail, you should immediately check whether your vehicle was hit (provided, of course, that it remained outside). If you discover any suspicious dents, report the hail damage to your insurance as soon as possible. The insurance company may want to inspect the affected vehicle before it is repaired. However, further processing of the complaint is usually quite uncomplicated.
This is also possible without any problems. However, please note that in the event of future hail damage, the new damage amount will not be fully credited. The reason for this: It is no longer possible to determine whether the dents were caused by a previous hailstorm.
One thing is clear: even in case of a damage caused by hail, we do not leave our customers under the rain. Therefore: report us hail damages by phone or online immediately. We will send your claim to the experts of Allianz Suisse, who will quickly take care of it in a professional way.
