Sometimes you need a certificate of insurance – for instance, when you buy a new car or change your licence plate. You can order the confirmation of your car or motorcycle insurance easily online.
A certificate of insurance is a confirmation that you have taken out third-party liability insurance for your car or motorbike. Official bodies require this information in the following cases:

You have a new car or motorbike and need a new licence plate for it.

You are replacing your car or motorbike and keeping the old licence plate.

You are moving house and have to register your vehicle in your new canton.

You have a new licence plate and would like register it for your car or motorbike.

You would like to start using a previously surrendered licence plate again.

You are taking on a car or a motorbike with a licence plate from someone else.

You would like to register a second vehicle with your licence plate.

To be allowed to drive on Swiss roads, you must register your car or motorbike with the traffic licensing authority. You need a certificate of insurance to do so. This proves that you have taken out the compulsory third-party liability cover for your vehicle – and will be insured in the event of an accident.

  2. Electronic transmission
    We send the certificate of insurance to all traffic licensing authorities in your canton of residence. 
  3. Confirmation of dispatch by e-mail
    You receive a confirmation by e-mail as soon as the certificate has been sent. 
  4. Registration with the traffic licensing authority
    Starting from the selected date, you have 30 days in which to register or re-register your vehicle with the traffic licensing authority.
  5. New documents
    The traffic licensing authority will inform us as soon as your vehicle has been registered or re-registered. We will then process your contract – you do not need to do anything.

The certificate of insurance is valid for 30 days from the confirmed date.

After that, you can order a certificate of insurance from us, which we will be happy to send to the traffic licensing authority in your canton of residence.
